Abstract: Objective To investigate the relationship between stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and sarcopenia in the elderly women. Methods A total of 268 elderly women at the Affiliated Geriatric Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from September 2023 to August 2024 were collected, including 176 patients presenting with SUI (SUI group) and 92 without urinary incontinence (non-urinary incontinerce group). The sarcopenia-related parameters, sociodemographic characteristics, comprehensive geriatric assessment data, and laboratory biomarkers were recorded and compared between the two groups. Propensity score matching (PSM) was employed to control the potential confounding factors, and binary logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the influencing factors for SUI in the elderly women. Results After PSM, the difference in the prevalence of sarcopenia between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). Binary logistic regression analysis indicated that sarcopenia was an independent risk factor for SUI in the elderly women. Conclusions SUI is closely associated with sarcopenia in the elderly women. Screening sarcopenia is important to reduce the risk of SUI and improve the quality of life in the elderly women.
