Abstract: From an etiological perspective, chronic pulmonary fibrotic diseases (pulmonary fibrosis) are categorized into idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and secondary pulmonary fibrosis, with treatment principles varying among different disease subtypes. Older adults, being a high-incidence population for pulmonary fibrosis, encounter multiple unique challenges in disease management. This article systematically reviews the pathogenesis, diagnostic evaluation, classification system, and progress in individualized treatment of pulmonary fibrosis in the elderly, aiming to provide references for improving the clinical outcomes of elderly patients.
