Abstract: Objective To investigate the value of serum albumin for rehabilitation in the elderly patients after hip fracture operation. Methods A total of 100 elderly patients with hip fracture in our hospital from December 2019 to December 2021 were enrolled in this study. The serum albumin level was detected at admission, 1 day and 1 week after surgery. The rehabilitation effect was evaluated by Harris score of hip function 3 months after surgery. The clinical data and serum albumin levels of the patients with different rehabilitation effects were compared. Lasso regression and Logistic regression were used to analyze the factors affecting the postoperative rehabilitation of the patients, and receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was used to evaluate the efficacy in predicting rehabilitation. Results There were significant differences in age, number of comorbidity and proportion of delayed weight bearing between the patients with different rehabilitation effects(P<0.05). The serum albumin level in the patients with poor rehabilitation was lower than that in the patients with good rehabilitation one week after operation(P<0.05). Lasso regression and Logistic regression analysis showed that age, number of comorbidity, proportion of delayed weight bearing and serum albumin level 1 week after surgery were the influencing factors of postoperative rehabilitation(P<0.05). Correlation analysis showed that serum albumin level 1 week after operation was positively correlated with Harris score(P<0.05). ROC curve showed that the area under curve(AUC) of serum albumin level 1 week after surgery predicting rehabilitation effect was 0.806, and the sensitivity and specificity was 80.41% and 87.53%, respectively. Conclusions Serum albumin level is closely related to postoperative rehabilitation effect in the elderly patients with hip fracture, which can provide reference for clinical prediction of postoperative rehabilitation effect.
