Advances in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse in the elderly women

Abstract: As women aged and their pelvic floor support structures weaken, pelvic organ prolapse (POP) has become a major health concern for elderly women. This article systematically explores three key areas of research progress in elderly women with POP: diagnosis, conservative treatment, and surgical intervention. It particularly focuses on innovative surgical techniques and their outcomes, along with the application of novel mesh materials in surgical procedures.Finally, looking ahead to the future of POP treatment, it is necessary to combine individual needs and realize the integrated development of multiple disciplines to improve the treatment effect and prognosis.
