Abstract:
ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between carotid artery intimamedia thickness(IMT) and cardiovascular risk factors in elderly hypertensive patients.Methods205 elderly hypertensive patients were divided into two groups according to IMT, the IMT thickening group and IMT normal group. Age, course, blood pressure and related biochemical indicators were compared between two groups.ResultsThe IMT thickening group had older age and longer course than IMT normal group. The levels of blood pressure, LDLC, FPG, CRP were significantly higher and the level of HDLC in IMT thickening group was lower than those in IMT normal group.ConclusionsCarotid artery IMT is closely related to the cardiovascular risk factors in elderly hypertensive patients.
