【Abstract】 ObjectiveTo compare the difference of growth hormone (GH) between obese and non-obese in elderly patients with hypertension, and to investigate the relativity between GH and the risk of cardiovascular disease.MethodsAccording to different body mass index(BMI)and waist circumferences(WC),80 subjects were divided into two groups:obesity group and non-obesity group. WC,GH,fasting plasma glucose(FPG),fasting insulin (FINS),lipid, fibrin(Fb),C reactive protein (CRP),systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP)were measured. HOMA-IR was calculated.Results(1) GH and HDL-C in patients with obesity decreased remarkably as compared with non-obesity group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).(2)FPG,FINS,TG,TC,LDL-C,Fb,CRP,SBP,DBP and HOMA-IR were elevated significently in obese patients(P<0.05 or P<0.01).(3)GH was positively correlated with HDL-C,and negatively correlated with WC,BMI,HOMA-IR,TG,TC,LDL-C,Fb,CRP and age.ConclusionsThe level of GH significantly decreases in obese patients, and it is highly related to cardiovascular risk.Decreased GH secretion may be associated with increased high risk of cardiovascular disease.
